Biography

Hi my name is Nathaniel Preston I am 19 years old and I am currently attending the French campus of the U of A, Campus St-Jean. My major is history and my minor is anthropology, I aspire to become a high school Social Studies teacher. Over the course of this summer I’ve been working for a student painting company, this was a new experience for me and I feel that have gained a lot from it. I also really enjoy working with children, two summers ago I worked at a summer camp called Kamp Kiwanis, and I have been working at the YMCA for almost two years as a swimming instructor/ lifeguard.
I am a very outgoing person and quite easy going, I enjoy going out with friends. I like to think of myself as a loyal friend, I try to be there for others when they are in need. I am quite adventurous, I like to try new things and I love to travel. I have been to South Korea for 10 days on a cross-country ski exchange. I also took summer classes last year in Ottawa for one month with a program called Destination Clic! to enrich my French.
My hobbies include cross-country skiing, cycling, hiking, camping, reading, history, learning, traveling and spending time with my friends.

Good luck, Nathaniel. I’m sure it’s going to be yet another mind-opening and enriching experience on the level of introducing you to issues that exist in a society different from Canada’s…while, no doubt, you will find over time (if you’re there long enough – how long are you there?) that there are commonalities as well. Looking forward to hearing all about it.

How’s it going in Africa, Malawi; I never knew you were working towards being a SS teacher. That’s cool.

Really want to hear about your travels and adventures.

Take care,

Mike.

Hey Nathaniel,

I don’t suppose you have much opportunity to update your blog – but I’d love to hear more! Where are you working and what are your impressions of life from this new viewing point. No doubt you will be very much changed when you return to our superficial, consumer oriented society. The call will be for you to make a difference here then!

I have a foster child I support in Malawi. She lives around Lilongwe. Is that anywhere near where you are?

Diane
