Currently, I am completing my fourth year at the University of Guelph in Environmental Toxicology. As a science student, I receive very limited exposure to social, economic and political issues. I chose to participate in an international placement opportunity to challenge my current way of thinking, increase my knowledge of international development issues and gain the confidence to travel independently in the future. I hope that my placement in Botswana will be the first of many international service learning opportunities!
