Hello, my name is Katie Bayley I am a second year Environment and Business student at the University of Waterloo. I am travelling to Botswana’s Mokolodi Nature Reserve as a volunteer co-op opportunity. I am really looking forward to this experience as it reflects my love for travelling and nature.
My position at the Mokolodi Nature Reserve is as an Environmental Education Officer which will include a number of tasks including working in the Education Centre and website update and design. I also hope to work with animals, explore Gaborone and learn about the culture.
I’m a little anxious about being away from family and friends for such a long period of time however, I expect to meet some great people while on my placement and I am hoping that they will help me deal with any homesickness I experience. I am ready for this life changing experience and although I’m not sure what to expect, I am counting down the days until I leave.
