Getting Ready…

I just graduated from the  University of Guelph in January 2008 with an honors degree in microbiology.  While in grade 10, I took part in a 3 week exchange program to Germany, and subsequently caught the travel bug.  Ever since, I have passionately travelled to many different locations throughout the world, attempting to stay in each local long enough to get a real feel of the culture that thrives there.

Throughout both my high school and university career I have also been deeply involved in many different volunteer programs and organizations.  The relationships and camaraderie established during these programs and volunteer opportunities is a phenomenal display of cooperation and good-heartedness that always keeps me coming back for more. It was not until 2006 when a group of 18 students from the U of G went to India to volunteer in a remote village in the foothills of the  Himalayas, that my two passions were united in a single incredible, eye-opening, jaw-dropping, inspirational, unforgettable, month long experience.  When the opportunity arose to go to Botswana to volunteer and travel, I jumped at the occasion.  I am now over-joyed to be going and I am very excited to be a part of such an amazing opportunity.
