My name is Dave Casson. I am a recent chemical engineering graduate of McGill University with a minor in environmental engineering. I have worked as an instructor in outdoor education for the past 4 years and have been involved in wilderness programs for most of my life.
I am looking forward to seeing how things are done at Mokolodi Nature Reserve (my placement). I have never been to any part of Africa before but I follow in the footsteps of my family and friends.

I am writing this message from Barbados where I have been living for 3 months. I have seen that 3 months is not a short period of time. To live in Botswana will require adaptation and communication with many new, different people. It will be a quick transition in Canada before heading to Botswana. Hopefully my acclimatization to hot weather and a slower way of life will not be lost in between.

While at Mokolodi I hope to apply my training and experience to their educational programs. I will be doing my best to communicate with people back home through photos and writing. The adjustment to a new country and way to life is part of what excites me about the trip. I do not underestimate the challenge of moving to such a foreign culture.
